Craig begins by meeting with his client to discuss the iT situation. Then he will create a written statement-of-work (SOW) including a solution framework. Craig’s solution framework usually consists of these parts:

  1. 360-degree interviews with senior management, business leaders, technical leaders, technicians and other staff members to quickly assess the present business and technical situation

  2. Point of departure characterization that summarizes important aspects of current iT processes, systems, projects, and organizations

  3. Definition of the desired target-state in terms of business results and technical attributes

  4. Gap analysis with strategies and tactics to transform from the current situation to the desired destination

  5. Execution planning for transformation strategies and tactics that emphasizes both systems engineering and project management principles

Craig follows a written SOW with defined deliverable(s). He provides a written report on his deliverable(s) at the conclusion of the work. On longer engagements, he provides periodic status reports on progress, constraints and issues. He prepares and delivers other presentations, memos and reports as needed by his client to communicate and document his work. Craig communicates directly, openly and honestly.
